If you’re a Ganen owner, here’s where you stand

GANEN SG Pte. Ltd. announced it would no longer be operational in 2024. If you’re a Ganen owner, a couple of things may have changed for you — and each one is straightforward for us to sort out:

New phone won’t run the app?

The Ganen app isn’t updated anymore, so a new or reset phone often can’t set it up. Easy fix — we move you to an app that’s always available to download.

A device stopped working?

If a module gives out, there are no Ganen spares — so we simply replace it and pair it into your new system.

Wiring could be neater?

Some Ganen installs are a little cramped or untidy. We tidy everything up and make it safe as part of the job.

The message you received

“GANEN SG Pte. Ltd. will no longer be operational”

On 24 July 2024, Ganen customers received a closure notice by text. If this is the message you received from Ganen, you’re exactly who we can help. Here it is, as it was sent:

Dear Owner,

It is with a heavy heart to inform you that GANEN SG Pte. Ltd. will no longer be operational. It is with deep regret that we must bring an end to our company.

We want to take this opportunity to express our sincere gratitude for your trust and support throughout our journey.

The challenges we have faced over the past few months have been insurmountable. Despite our best efforts, we were unable to find a viable path forward. This outcome is as difficult for us to accept as it is for you to hear, and we are deeply sorry for any inconvenience this will cause. Please know that this decision was made after extensive deliberation, considering deeply the impact on all stakeholders involved.

We understand that some of your projects are still under warranty. Regrettably, we will no longer be able to, nor have the resources, to cover them under the existing terms.

We have reached out to another company who specialises in system integrations, and sought their help to render support to all Ganen clients should you require so. However, please note that their products and services will incur charges, as they are not related to GANEN SG Pte Ltd.

If you are interested in engaging them for servicing do let us know so we can get them to contact you directly. They will reach out to you within a week. Alternatively, you can find other vendors.

Good news first

Your lights still work today

Ganen’s KAES kinetic and wireless switches talk to their receivers over a local 433MHz radio link, separate from the internet. So pressing a switch on the wall still turns your lights on and off, even with the app down.

What changes is the smart layer — the Ganen app isn’t updated anymore, so remote control, automations and installing it on a new phone can stop working, and if a module ever needs replacing there are no Ganen spares. The good news: there’s no rush. Everything keeps running while we plan your migration, and we move you across on your own timeline.

The SmartGeez M9 dimmer — your offline safety net

To replace the Ganen KRC411 dimming controller, we fit the SmartGeez M9 dimmer switch. You still get full smart control through the app — but you can also walk up and:

• Tap to turn lights on/off by hand
• Slide your finger up or down to dim
• Do all of this even if the Wi-Fi or cloud is down

So there’s always a simple manual control to fall back on — your lights stay in your hands.

Our licensed electricians re-do the work properly: tidy terminations, safe loading, labelled circuits and a clean finish you’d be happy to open up and show someone.

Ganen migration FAQ

Will my lights still work?

Usually not immediately. The kinetic/wireless switches control your lights over a local 433MHz radio link that doesn’t depend on the internet, so basic wall control generally keeps working. What degrades is the app, remote access, automations and voice — and you have no support if a module fails. Migrating restores the smart features and removes that risk.

I changed my phone and can’t download the Ganen app anymore — can you help?

Yes — this is one of the most common reasons people contact us. The Ganen app is no longer maintained or properly available to reinstall, so a new or reset phone often can’t set it up again. Migrating you to Aqara or Tuya / Smart Life puts your home back on an app you can freely download, update and re-pair on any phone, now and in future.

A Ganen device failed and I can’t get a replacement part — what now?

That’s expected: there are no Ganen spares anymore. We replace the failed module (and pair it into your new supported system) and can do the rest of the home at the same time or in phases. You get working parts again, with a clear support path going forward.

Do I have to rip out everything at once?

No. We assess what you have and can migrate in phases if you prefer. We also keep compatible parts — for example, your existing dimmable LED drivers usually stay, so dimming carries over.

Can you keep my dimming on downlights and light strips?

Yes — on both. Retaining dimming is a core part of how we migrate. For downlights (the Ganen KRC410 path) we fit a supported smart dimmer. For light strips and cove lighting (the KRC411 + 0–10V driver path) we fit the SmartGeez M9 dimmer and keep your existing LED drivers — so your strips still dim smoothly. The M9 also lets you dim manually by sliding your finger, even with the network down.

What do you replace the kinetic switches with?

Neat battery-operated smart wireless switches. They mount where your old switches were, so there’s no need to chase new wiring through the wall, and they integrate with Aqara or Tuya / Smart Life.

My wiring looks messy and a bit unsafe — can you fix that?

Yes. Our licensed electricians re-do the installation properly: safe loading, tidy terminations, labelled circuits and a clean finish. Making messy Ganen jobs safe and neat is a big part of what we do.

How much does Ganen migration cost?

It depends on how many circuits, switches and modules you have, and whether you choose Aqara or Tuya / Smart Life. Start with a free assessment over WhatsApp — send photos and we’ll give you a quote based on your home.
