Why buy the Aqara Dual Relay Module T2 in Singapore

• Keep the switches you have. If your renovation already has switch plates you like, or a landlord who will not let you change them, the T2 goes behind the plate and adds app, voice and automation control without touching the front.

Three wiring modes for three kinds of load

Wet contact: two lighting circuits

This is the everyday mode. The module is powered from neutral (N) and live (L), the LIN and LOUT terminals are bridged with the red jumper wire supplied in the box, the two light loads connect to L1 and L2, and the existing rocker switches connect to S1, S2 and COM. The lights can then be switched from the wall as before, from the Aqara Home app, or by an automation, and Aqara states there is no minimum load, with a maximum of 10 A / 2500 W for incandescent loads and 1 A / 250 W for LED or fluorescent lighting per the rated parameters.

Dry contact: gates, garage doors and equipment with its own power

Remove the jumper so LIN and LOUT are no longer bridged and each channel becomes a volt-free switch. Aqara’s FAQ lists garage doors, curtain motors, roller shutters and projector screens as typical targets — anything that just needs a contact closed to start. In a Singapore landed home this is the usual way to put an autogate or a motorised awning into Aqara Home. Aqara’s DC rating covers 24–30 V at up to 10 A / 300 W and 30–60 V at up to 1 A / 60 W for resistive loads.

Interlock: bidirectional motors

Interlock mode ties the two channels together so that only one can be closed at a time — the pattern a curtain or roller-shutter motor needs for open and close. If you would rather have a purpose-built controller with position feedback, the Roller Shade Controller T1S is the alternative; the T2 is the general-purpose answer when the motor is already installed.

Multi-way switching without rewiring

Because the module speaks Zigbee, a second (or third) control point does not need a cable back to the load. Pair a battery-powered H1 Wireless Switch beside the bed or a Wireless Mini Switch T1 on the nightstand and map it to the relay in Aqara Home — Aqara’s FAQ describes exactly this as the way to build multi-way setups with the T2. The wired switch on S1/S2 still works too.

Ecosystems: Apple Home and more, through your Aqara hub

The T2 is a Zigbee child device, so an Aqara hub is required for anything beyond the wired switch. Once it is on a hub it appears in Apple Home, and the Singapore distributor lists Google Home and Amazon Alexa as well — all through the hub, not a direct connection. A Matter-capable hub such as the Hub M3 or Hub M200 is the natural pairing; the Smart Hub M100 is the value option if Apple Home and Aqara Home are all you need. Aqara quotes 7–10 m of range through one wall, so in a flat with the DB box in the kitchen, plan the hub position accordingly.

Installing the Dual Relay Module T2 in a Singapore home

Neutral and live are both required

The module draws its own power from N and L, so a neutral wire must be present at the point of installation. That is normal in a DB box or ceiling void, but many Singapore switch boxes carry only the live — our neutral vs no-neutral guide explains how to check. Where there is no neutral at the switch and no practical way to run one, a no-neutral smart switch such as the Light Switch H2 is the alternative.

Licensed electrician, correct terminals

This is a hard-wired 100–250 V device and must be installed by a licensed electrician following the wiring diagram in the manual. Aqara’s FAQ is blunt about the consequences of getting it wrong: reversing neutral and live can short-circuit and damage the installation, while putting a load wire on L or N simply means nothing responds. It is rated for indoor use at −10°C to 40°C and 0–95% RH non-condensing. Relay module or smart switch?

If you are replacing the wall plate anyway, a smart switch such as the Z1 Pro or Light Switch H2 is simpler — it is controlled locally by its own buttons. The T2 is for when the plate stays, the load is not a light, or the control point is somewhere a switch cannot go, such as the DB box or the ceiling above an autogate motor.
