Description

The Aqara Hub E1 is Aqara’s smallest and most affordable smart-home hub — a USB-A plug-in that hosts a Zigbee 3.0 mesh for up to 128 Aqara accessories and doubles as a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi repeater. It is Aqara’s outgoing entry-tier hub: in stock at PassionHome for $49 as sell-through, while Aqara’s announced successor, the Hub E100, is not yet available here. If you need a tiny, low-cost way to add or extend an Aqara Zigbee network today — and you do not need Matter, Thread, infrared appliance control or a built-in alarm — the Hub E1 is a straightforward pick.

What the Aqara Hub E1 does

  • Aqara Zigbee 3.0 hub — up to 128 accessories. Bridges Aqara door and window sensors, motion sensors, temperature and humidity sensors, water-leak sensors, smart plugs, wall switches and curtain controllers. At higher device counts, add Aqara Zigbee repeaters such as a Smart Plug or a Wall Switch with Neutral. Aqara Zigbee accessories only — not third-party Zigbee.
  • 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi repeater. The Hub E1 can generate a new 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi hotspot to push coverage into a weak spot such as a hallway or near the front door — supporting up to two client devices. This is a feature the puck-style M2, M200 and M3 hubs do not have.
  • Works with Apple Home, Google Home and Alexa. Acts as an Apple Home bridge for its Aqara Zigbee accessories (they appear in the Apple Home app and respond to Siri), plus Google Home and Amazon Alexa via your Aqara Home account. Remote control through Apple Home needs a home hub such as a HomePod or Apple TV on your account.
  • Distinctive USB-A plug design. The hub is itself a USB-A male plug with a 210-degree adjustable shaft, so it folds flat against a power strip, USB wall outlet, power bank, PC or router. At 108 x 30 x 8 mm and 58 g, it tucks away almost anywhere indoors.
  • Local automations and disaster recovery. Automatic scenes between connected Aqara accessories can run locally on the hub, and the Hub E1 participates in Aqara’s Ark Technology distributed disaster-recovery system.

What the Hub E1 does not do — and when to choose another hub

The Hub E1 is a deliberately minimal entry-tier hub. Knowing its limits up front helps you pick the right hub the first time:

  • No Matter Controller and no Thread radio. The Hub E1 cannot host Aqara’s Thread-based accessories (such as the U200, U300, U400 and U500 smart locks) and does not act as a Matter Controller. For Matter and Thread, choose the Aqara Hub M200 ($149) or the Aqara M3 Hub ($289).
  • No infrared control. No IR transmitter, so it cannot control air-conditioners, TVs or fans. For 360-degree IR, the Aqara M2 Hub ($99) emits IR from Aqara’s code library, and the M200 / M3 add IR learning.
  • No built-in speaker or buzzer. The Hub E1 cannot sound a local alarm or doorbell chime on its own — it relies on other devices on the network for that. The M2 and M200 have built-in speakers.
  • No Ethernet port. Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz only. The M200 and M3 add wired RJ45 with PoE.

If you are starting fresh and want a hub you will keep for years, the Aqara M2 Hub ($99) is the better-value entry pick, and the Aqara Hub M100 is the newer compact option. The Hub E1 is the right buy specifically when you want the cheapest possible Zigbee coordinator, the USB-plug form factor, or the Wi-Fi repeater function.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Aqara Hub E1 still worth buying in 2026?

The Hub E1 is Aqara’s outgoing entry-tier Zigbee hub, currently in stock at $49 for sell-through. It remains a capable little Zigbee 3.0 coordinator and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi repeater. Aqara has announced the Hub E100 as its successor, which is not yet available at PassionHome. If you want a tiny, low-cost way to add or extend an Aqara Zigbee mesh today and you do not need Matter, Thread, infrared control or a built-in alarm, the Hub E1 still does the job. If you want a longer-term hub with more features, look at the Aqara M2 Hub ($99), Hub M200 ($149) or M3 Hub ($289).

Does the Aqara Hub E1 support Matter or Thread?

No. The Hub E1 is a Zigbee 3.0 hub with a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi repeater. It has no Thread radio and does not act as a Matter Controller. If you need Matter or Thread Border Router capability at the hub level, choose the Aqara Hub M200 or the Aqara M3 Hub.

Can the Hub E1 control my air-conditioner or TV?

No. The Hub E1 has no infrared transmitter, so it cannot control AC units, TVs, fans or other IR appliances. For built-in 360-degree IR control, choose the Aqara M2 Hub (emit only), or the Hub M200 / M3 Hub (which add IR learning and status sync).

How many devices can the Hub E1 connect?

Up to 128 Aqara Zigbee child devices such as door and window sensors, motion sensors, smart plugs, switches and curtain controllers. At higher device counts, Aqara recommends adding Zigbee repeater devices such as a Smart Plug or a Wall Switch with Neutral to extend and stabilise the mesh. The Hub E1 supports Aqara Zigbee accessories only, not third-party Zigbee devices.

Does the Hub E1 work with Apple Home?

Yes. The Hub E1 acts as an Apple Home bridge for its connected Aqara Zigbee accessories, which then appear in the Apple Home app and respond to Siri. Only Aqara accessories that carry Works with Apple Home authorisation are exposed. For remote control away from home, Apple requires a home hub on your account such as a HomePod or Apple TV. The Hub E1 also works with Google Home, Amazon Alexa and the Aqara Home app.

What is the Wi-Fi repeater function?

Besides hosting your Zigbee mesh, the Hub E1 can generate a new 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi hotspot to extend coverage into a weak spot such as a hallway or near the front door. The repeater supports up to two client devices. You enable and rename it under Settings, Wi-Fi Relay in the Aqara Home app.

Does the Hub E1 need a power adapter?

No. The Hub E1 is itself a USB-A plug, so it plugs straight into any USB-A socket on a power strip, USB wall outlet, power bank, PC or router. The box contains the Hub E1 and a user manual only, with no power adapter and no cable. PassionHome does not bundle power adapters on Aqara products. The hub draws 5V at 0.5A, 2.5 watts maximum.

Is the Hub E1 covered by warranty in Singapore?

Yes. The Hub E1 carries the official 24-month Aqara manufacturer warranty, serviced at the Aqara Service Center in Singapore, with no overseas RMA. PassionHome.sg is an Authorised Aqara Dealer. WhatsApp +65 9051 7063 if you need help with a warranty claim.
