One sensor, two monitoring modes

Most sensors are built for a single job. The P100 is designed around two operating modes so the same unit can move between jobs as your setup changes. Only one mode runs at a time, and switching happens in the app rather than by buying a different device.

Open / Close Monitoring mode

In Open/Close Monitoring mode the P100 reports whether a door or window is open or shut. Because detection is based on the sensor’s own movement through 3D space rather than on the distance between two magnetic halves, it suits hinged doors, casement windows, hopper windows and composite windows — the swing types that are most common in Singapore homes and that a two-piece reed sensor often struggles to sit flush against.

Typical automations: turn the air conditioner off when a bedroom window is opened, send a notification if the yard door is left open after a set time, or flag a window still open when everybody has left the house.

Object Monitoring mode

In Object Monitoring mode the P100 detects movement, tilt, vibration and fall events in 3D space, and also reports orientation — whether the object it is stuck to is face up or face down. A triple-tap gesture is recognised as its own event, so the sensor can double as a physical trigger for a scene.

When a change is detected, the P100 triggers the hub to sound an alarm and sends a notification to your app. Object Monitoring is available only over the Zigbee protocol with an Aqara hub, through the Aqara Home app.

What Object Monitoring is actually good for

Because the sensor is a single small body with adhesive on the back, it can be attached to almost anything you want to know the state of. Aqara documents four scenarios that translate directly to Singapore households:

• Letterbox and parcel detection. Vibration or tilt tells you the moment mail or a package is dropped in, instead of checking an empty box on the way home.
• Drawer, safe and jewellery box access. Movement when the drawer state changes gives you a log of when it was opened — useful for a home office, a store room, or anywhere valuables are kept.
• Medication tracking. Stuck to a pill box, the sensor detects when it is moved or tilted, which helps confirm a dose was taken and avoid a missed or duplicated one.
• Baby and elder care. Unexpected tilt or a fall of a crib, bed rail, walker or wheelchair raises an alert on the hub and in the app.

Full control over what is monitored is built in: rather than reporting everything, you select which of the event types — orientation, movement, fall, vibration, tilt, triple tap — you actually want the sensor to act on, so a mailbox sensor is not also firing on every passing lorry.

One-piece design, calibration and sensitivity

Peel and stick, anywhere

Traditional contact sensors need two pieces lined up within millimetres of each other. The P100 removes the second piece entirely — you peel the adhesive and stick the unit to almost any surface. Installation is quicker and placement is far more flexible, which matters on the aluminium window profiles and narrow door frames typical of Singapore flats. Two adhesive pads are supplied in the box.

Smart calibration and self-learning

Once mounted, the P100 calibrates to its exact installation angle and establishes that as its reference position, so accuracy does not depend on sticking it perfectly level. Its AI algorithms then continue to learn and correct minor drift over time, which improves detection accuracy and reduces false alerts on a sensor that stays in place for months.

10 sensitivity levels and adjustable reporting

The P100 offers 10 sensitivity levels across all monitoring modes, plus a configurable reporting interval from 5 seconds to 5 minutes in Object Monitoring mode. A letterbox on a busy corridor and a jewellery drawer in a quiet bedroom need very different thresholds, and this is the control that lets one sensor serve both.

Event logs and charts

The Aqara Home app keeps a detailed history of every movement, tilt and open/close event, showing what happened and when, and turns those logs into visualised charts so patterns and unusual activity are visible at a glance. Event logs and charts are Aqara Home features; availability on third-party Matter platforms varies by feature and platform.

Smart home connectivity — Thread and Zigbee

The P100 supports both Thread and Zigbee, and you choose which one to use at pairing time. The choice is a genuine trade-off rather than a formality, so it is worth understanding before you buy.

Thread mode — Matter, no Aqara hub needed

Paired over Thread, the P100 integrates through Matter with the major ecosystems — Apple Home, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, Samsung SmartThings and Home Assistant. A Matter controller for that ecosystem and a Thread border router are required. In Thread mode the sensor performs Open/Close detection; feature availability may vary across third-party Matter platforms due to platform limitations.

Zigbee mode — full features through an Aqara hub

Paired over Zigbee to an Aqara Zigbee hub, the P100 unlocks its full feature set in the Aqara Home app: Object Monitoring, orientation detection, event logs, charts and statistics, and the customisable sensitivity levels. Matter compatibility is still available in this mode, bridged through the Aqara hub. If you want everything the sensor can do, Zigbee is the mode to use.

Hub compatibility to check before you order

Aqara states that this product currently does not support adding devices via Camera Hub G5 Pro, Camera G2H Pro, Camera Hub G350, or Camera Hub G410. If the only Zigbee host in your home is one of those camera hubs, either add a dedicated Aqara hub for Zigbee mode, or run the P100 in Thread mode instead. Installing the P100 in a Singapore home

Setup is a self-install job — no electrician, no wiring, no drilling. Clean the mounting surface, peel one of the supplied adhesive pads, press the sensor into place, and add it in the Aqara Home app (Zigbee mode) or your Matter controller (Thread mode). Calibration runs from the app once the unit is in its final position, so stick it down before you calibrate.

Placement notes

• The P100 is designed for indoor use only and should avoid direct rain exposure. A letterbox or gate application needs to be under cover.
• Adhesive holds best on a clean, dry, flat surface. Painted timber, aluminium window profiles, glass and laminate all work; textured or dusty surfaces do not.
• In Open/Close mode, mount the sensor on the moving leaf — the door or window panel itself — since detection is based on the sensor’s own movement.
• In Object Monitoring mode, stick it to the object you want watched, in the orientation it normally sits, then calibrate.

Power

The P100 runs on a single CR2450 3V DC coin cell, a common size that is easy to replace locally. There is no cable and no adapter to find a socket for.
