The Aqara Roller Shade Driver E1 is a retrofit motor that automates the roller, zebra and venetian blinds you already have — it drives the existing beaded chain, so there is no need to replace the blind. Fit it in about five minutes, run it on its rechargeable battery or over USB-C, and control your blinds from the Aqara Home app, with Siri, Alexa or Google, or on a schedule. Model RSD-M01.

A retrofit driver for beaded-chain blinds
The Roller Shade Driver E1 works with blinds that raise and lower on a beaded chain — roller blinds, zebra (Korean) blinds and venetian blinds with plastic or metal beads 3 to 6 mm thick. It drives that chain for you, so your existing blind stays in place. Four adapters are included to match the common bead sizes, and the motor delivers 0.45 N·m of torque — enough for a shade of up to 5 kg on a 38 mm tube, or 3.7 kg on a 28 mm tube. Before buying, just check your blind uses a 3 to 6 mm bead chain (not a cordless spring blind or a continuous cord loop without beads).
Battery or USB-C — mount it anywhere
Because it has a built-in rechargeable lithium battery, you can mount the driver at a window with no power point nearby. A charge lasts about two months in typical use (driving a 1.8 x 1.8 m shade up and down once a day), and a full charge takes around 2 hours 30 minutes over the 5 V / 1 A USB-C port. Prefer never to recharge? Leave the included USB-C cable plugged in for continuous power. One caveat worth knowing: the driver does not support manual hand-operation when it is switched off, so keep it charged or wired.
Smart control and automation through your Aqara hub
The driver connects over Zigbee 3.0 and needs an Aqara Zigbee hub — such as the Aqara M2 Hub or the flagship Aqara Hub M3 — within about 30 m. Once paired it works in the Aqara Home app and, through a compatible hub, in Apple Home, Amazon Alexa, Google Home and IFTTT, so you can raise and lower your blinds by voice or on a tap. Set daily or weekly schedules, open to sunrise or sunset, and pre-set your favourite open and closed positions (open to 80%, say). Through the hub it can also respond to other Aqara devices — lower the blind when a light sensor reads bright sun, or open it when a door sensor sees you arrive home. With the network off, local button and sensor-linkage control still work; only app remote control needs the connection.
Roller Shade Driver E1 or a curtain driver?
The Roller Shade Driver E1 is for blinds on a beaded chain. If you want to automate curtains instead, the Aqara Smart Curtain Driver E1 (Track Version) is the battery driver that clips onto a curtain rod or track, and the Aqara Smart Curtain Motor is a wired track motor for heavier curtains. Choose this driver for roller, zebra or venetian blinds; choose a curtain driver or motor for curtains.

It drives your existing bead chain, so it does not replace the blind. It will not work on cordless spring blinds or continuous-cord-loop blinds without a bead chain.
