The Aqara Smart Curtain Driver E1 (Rod Version) motorises your existing curtain rod without replacing the rod. Mount it on the rod, charge once, pair to an Aqara Zigbee 3.0 hub, and your curtains open and close on schedule, by voice, by sunrise/sunset, or with a gentle tug on the curtain.

Rod Version — for curtain rods (not tracks)

This is the Rod Version. It mounts on a curtain rod with a uniform diameter between 25 mm and 32 mm. For curtain tracks (U-Rails or I-Rails) — common in Singapore HDB BTO units and many condos — the Aqara Smart Curtain Driver E1 (Track Version) is the right SKU instead.

• Rod diameter — between 25 mm and 32 mm, uniform thickness along the rod’s length
• Rod surface — smooth (no textured, ribbed, or fluted surfaces); close-fitting decorative caps required so the driver does not slip off the end
• Curtain hardware — grommet (eyelet) curtains + ring-top curtains supported
• Extendable / telescopic rods — NOT supported (the joint disrupts the driver’s wheel contact)
• Rod cross-section — uniform circular only; non-uniform / faceted profiles can affect grip

The Rod Version unit can also physically mount on U-Rails and I-Rails — but Aqara recommends the dedicated Track Version for I-Rail use because the Track Version ships with the I-Rail accessories. • USB-C charging port — recharge via the included USB-C-to-USB-A cable from any phone charger, power bank, or USB outlet
• Constant power option — the driver can be tethered to USB-C for permanent power if the cable can be routed neatly
• Manual tug-to-open — pull the curtain about 10 cm in either direction and the driver finishes the action. Enable this in the Aqara Home app under the driver settings.

Tool-free installation

No drilling, no rod replacement. Slide the driver onto your existing rod and clasp it into place — the built-in buzzer beeps twice when it is correctly mounted. Then follow the Aqara Home app to add the device and set the open/close route. Most installs finish in under five minutes per driver.

Connectivity and ecosystem support

The Curtain Driver E1 uses Zigbee 3.0 and needs an Aqara Zigbee 3.0 hub for setup, voice control, and cloud integrations. Once paired, it works with:

• Aqara Hub M200 ($149) — Matter Controller + Thread Border Router + PoE + IR. Best for Matter ecosystem integration through Apple Home / Google Home / SmartThings.
• Aqara M3 Hub ($289) — flagship hub with Matter + Thread + Ethernet + eMMC + security-device class. Best for large smart homes with many child devices.
