How the Gate Lock U500 compares to a repurposed door lock

Door locks like the B50, U50, U100, and U400 can technically be installed on a gate — but they’re designed for solid doors with a one-sided handle. When you put them on a gate, the fingerprint reader and keypad are only on the outside. The Gate Lock U500 fits gates with door thickness 22–28mm, backset 40–45mm, and door gap 3–7mm. Most HDB aluminium grille gates, condo perimeter gates, and landed property metal gates fall in this range. Installation requires three through-holes drilled (1×ø50mm + 2×ø12mm) — the Aqara Appointed Locksmith handles this during fitting.
