Auto-lock-on-close and anti-trailing

The D200i is a sliding push-pull mortise lock — the handle doesn’t distinguish left from right, and the lock automatically engages as soon as the door registers as closed. Aqara explicitly highlights this as anti-trailing logic — many electronic locks from other brands relock the latch 5 to 10 seconds after unlock, during which an intruder can push the handle to follow you in. The D200i closes that window: as soon as you walk through and the door clicks shut, the lock engages.

If you ever want the lock to stay open for a guest or delivery, set a one-time PIN with an expiry, or use the in-app passage mode (temporarily disables auto-lock for a set time window).

Door status detection

Both spring bolts are monitored with detection switches — the app reports unlatched, partially-extended, and unclosed states alongside locked / unlocked. If the door is left open beyond your configured threshold, the lock sounds an alert; same for an unclosed door over the threshold.

Critically, the cylinder is embedded inside the lock body itself, not in the front panel. If an attacker pries off or damages the front panel (the smart electronics), the mechanical cylinder remains protected and still requires a key to operate. This is structurally different from cheaper smart locks where pulling the front panel exposes the cylinder directly.

The D200i ships with two replaceable lithium-ion batteries, 5000 mAh each. Theoretical battery life is approximately 4 months under Aqara’s lab test conditions (15 in-out events per day, each including a face-recognition pass). Real-world life varies with usage frequency, temperature, and how often you use the face module versus a PIN or NFC card. Both batteries are user-replaceable and chargeable separately via USB-C — when one drops below threshold, swap it out and charge it on a USB-C wall plug while the other keeps the lock running.

Low-battery alerts at 20%

At 20% battery level, the lock sounds a low-battery tone on each unlock and pushes a notification to your Aqara Home app. You typically have 1–2 weeks of normal use after the first alert.

Three emergency-power paths if both batteries deplete

If both batteries deplete fully: (1) use the emergency mechanical key (two keys ship in the box — Aqara recommends keeping one in your car or office); (2) connect an external 5V / 2A USB-C power source (such as a power bank) to the USB-C port on the outer panel — the lock powers up enough to accept face recognition or PIN; (3) remove a battery, plug it into a USB-C charger, and wait 5–10 minutes to get enough charge to unlock the lock from outside.
