Description
The RG-EG406XS is the gateway most Singapore installs actually need. Five 2.5 Gigabit copper ports and a 10G SFP+ cage in a fanless box the size of a hardback book, rated by Ruijie for 400 concurrent clients and 3500 Mbps of throughput.
Like the rest of the Reyee gateway line it doubles as the controller: the access points and switches behind it appear in the same Ruijie Cloud dashboard, and in AC mode it will manage up to 750 of them.

Where it fits
This is the default choice for a landed house, a large condominium unit, a clinic or a small office. If you want the gateway to power the access points as well, take the RG-EG406XS-P, which is the same router with four PoE+ ports and a 110 W budget. If you are heading past 400 clients, step up to the RG-EG710XS.
Cloud management
Every device on this page is managed from the same place. Ruijie Cloud and the Ruijie Reyee App give you one dashboard for the router, the switches and every access point — add a device by scanning it, push firmware remotely, and see which client is eating your bandwidth. Ruijie states that basic Ruijie Cloud management is free for the lifetime of the product, with no per-device subscription.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the RG-EG406XS and the RG-EG406XS-P?
The routing hardware is identical — same ports, same 3500 Mbps throughput, same 400 clients, same VPN limits. The -P version adds four PoE/PoE+ output ports with a 110 W total budget and 30 W per port, runs on a 54 V adapter instead of 12 V, and is desk-mount only. The plain XS ships with rack brackets and draws 9 W.
Can it manage my Reyee access points without a separate controller?
Yes. In router mode it manages up to 200 AP and NBS-series devices; in AC mode, up to 750, plus 128 ES-series switches. That is one dashboard for the whole site.
Does it support WireGuard?
Yes, as both server and client, rated at 750 Mbps with up to 100 concurrent tunnels. IPsec, L2TP, PPTP and OpenVPN are also supported.
Will 2.5G ports work with my existing Gigabit equipment?
Yes — the copper ports are 10/100/1000/2500BASE-T, so they negotiate down to Gigabit or slower automatically. The 2.5G capability is there for when you upgrade the switch or the access points.
Is the cloud management a subscription?
No. Ruijie states that basic Ruijie Cloud management is free for the lifetime of the product on its cloud-managed devices, and the datasheet for this model repeats that. Ruijie reserves the right to charge for advanced features in future.
