Here is the part most owners never discover: when HDB builds a BTO flat, a doorbell wire is run from the front door into the kitchen. In most BTO flats completed over roughly the last ten years, that wire ends in the kitchen connected to nothing. It was meant for a simple battery-operated chime unit that almost nobody installs.

Is my HDB BTO already wired for a doorbell?
Most BTO flats completed in roughly the last ten years have a doorbell wire prewired by HDB, running from the front door and ending in the kitchen. It is usually connected to nothing, because it was meant for a battery-operated chime that few owners ever install. WhatsApp us your block and completion year and we will confirm before quoting.
Does the installation involve hacking my walls?
No. We use your existing doorbell wiring where it is available, and run any new wiring in neat surface trunking from the kitchen doorbell point to the nearest power source. There is no hacking of walls.
Can you install a doorbell camera I bought elsewhere?
Yes. The service works with any wired doorbell camera that accepts 12V or 24V power, not just the models we sell. Send us the exact model on WhatsApp and we will confirm compatibility and the right driver before you book.
Which Aqara doorbell should I choose for a wired install?
Choose the Aqara Doorbell Camera Hub G410 if you want the doorbell to double as your smart-home hub, with 24/7 continuous recording unlocked in wired mode. Choose the Aqara Doorbell Camera G400 (Wired) if you already have a hub and want a battery-free doorbell with a published IP65 weather rating at a lower price.
What if my flat is older and has no doorbell point?
We still install wired doorbell cameras in older HDB flats. The wiring route just has to be planned around your entrance, so we quote these case by case. WhatsApp us a photo of your front door area and we will advise.
Do I still need to change batteries after going wired?
No. On wired power the camera draws power continuously from the driver, so there are no batteries to swap or recharge, and the doorbell does not go dead while you are away or on holiday.
