The Aqara LED Strip T1 is a 2 m Zigbee light strip with separate RGB and tunable-white LEDs, so it works as a proper 2700K to 6500K accent light as well as a 16-million-colour effects strip. Its ten segments can each show a different colour (RGBIC), the controller has a microphone for music sync, and it can be cut every 20 cm or extended to 10 m. It pairs with an Aqara hub and works with Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa and Matter through that hub. Colour, white and RGBIC effects
The strip carries two LED families: RGB emitters for colour and white emitters rated 2700K to 6500K. In tunable-white mode the whole strip behaves like one dimmable white light; in RGB mode the ten segments become individually addressable, which is what lets a gradient run from blue at one end to pink at the other. Aqara notes that segment control is available in RGB mode only — tunable-white mode always lights the strip as one.
Effects are set in the Aqara Home app: static colours, dynamic presets such as rainbow and flash, and custom effects you build yourself. Scenes made in Aqara Home can then be exposed to Apple Home, Google Home or Alexa so a voice command or a HomeKit scene triggers the effect.
Music sync and home automations
The controller’s microphone drives music sync mode — the strip pulses to whatever it hears, so Aqara recommends placing the controller close to the speaker. The controller also has buttons for power, light-mode switching and music sync, and Aqara confirms basic on/off works offline; colour, colour temperature and dynamic effects need the app connection through the hub.
On the same hub the strip joins ordinary automations: a Presence Sensor FP2 can light the stair segments one by one as you walk up, a Wireless Mini Switch T1 can toggle the cove light, and a Camera Hub G3 can flash the strip red as a status indicator when an alarm fires. Apple Home users also get Adaptive Lighting on the white channel.
Installing the LED Strip T1 in a Singapore home
Mounting, cutting and length
The strip has 3M adhesive on the back; Aqara asks for a flat, dry surface, so wipe down the underside of a kitchen cabinet or the inside of a cove before sticking it. It can be cut at the marked lines every 20 cm with the power off — the cut-off piece cannot be reused. For longer runs, the LED Strip T1 Extension 1 m clips onto the end; the total can reach 10 m (the 2 m base plus up to 8 m of extensions). After extending, set the actual length in the app’s Function Setting so the extra segments light up.
Power and placement
The strip runs on 24 V DC from the included power adapter (100–240 V input), so it plugs into a normal wall socket. The strip itself is IP44 rated, but Aqara is explicit that the controller and power supply are not weatherproof and must stay indoors — treat it as an indoor product with some tolerance for a humid bathroom cove or balcony ceiling where the adapter can be kept inside. An Aqara hub is required: the Smart Hub M100, Hub M2 or Hub M3 (Matter support needs a Matter-capable hub such as the M3). To reset the strip, hold the controller’s power button for 5 seconds.
