The Aqara Smart Rim Lock U500 is a surface-mounted smart lock for classic entrance doors and narrow-stile doors where mortise prep isn’t feasible — HDB main doors with shallow door edges and classic timber entrance doors that benefit from a no-cut upgrade. Works with your smart home
The Rim Lock U500 is a Matter-over-Thread device. It works with Aqara Home, Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, Samsung SmartThings, and Home Assistant. Apple Home Key tap-to-unlock is supported via the Aliro standard. For remote unlock and ecosystem automations, you need a Thread-enabled Matter controller on your network — the Aqara Hub M3, Hub M100, Hub M200, Doorbell Camera Hub G410, or Camera Hub G5 Pro all work. Apple users can also use an Apple TV 4K (with the latest software), HomePod (2nd generation), or HomePod mini as the Thread Border Router.

At 5.1V the Aqara Home app sends a low-battery alert; at 4.9V the lock prompts you to top up via the USB-C emergency port on the outer panel (5V/1A — works with any standard power bank or USB-C-to-USB-C phone). Mechanical key fallback works at any battery level.
Installation — what to expect
The Aqara Appointed Locksmith handles the full installation: three through-holes drilled (1×ø50mm + 2×ø12mm), tailpiece cut-to-length per door thickness (50mm cut for 20–32mm doors / 60mm for 32–42mm / 70mm for 42–52mm / 80mm for 52–60mm), RH/LH reversible setup, and end-to-end lock configuration.
