Three relays plus six wireless buttons
At its core the S1E replaces a three-gang wall switch: three physical relays switch your wired lights directly. On top of that, six wireless (software) buttons live on the touchscreen, which you assign to scenes or to other smart-home devices — they carry no electrical load themselves. Connect it to Apple Home and all of this shows up as three switches and six wireless buttons, so you can link the wireless buttons to HomeKit scenes and accessories. Everything is set up in the Aqara Home app, where you associate lamps, curtains, switches and sockets, plus scenes and services, to the tiles on screen.
A touch panel you can make your own
The 480 x 480 colour screen is fully customisable. Build up to six pages, give each its own layout chosen from ten layouts (split into information zones and button zones), and switch themes in the Aqara Home app. Information zones can show the time, the weather and device status; button zones control your lamps, curtains, sockets, switches, scenes and the six wireless buttons. Aqara keeps adding new layouts and themes over time, so the panel grows with your home.
Wi-Fi control — and where a hub comes in
The S1E connects over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and works independently, with no Aqara hub needed for the switch itself. It pairs directly with Apple Home over Wi-Fi for HomeKit control, and is managed in the Aqara Home app. The only time you need a separate Aqara hub is when you want the panel to control Aqara Zigbee sub-devices — those Zigbee accessories connect through a hub such as the Aqara M2 Hub or Aqara Hub M3, and the S1E then controls them on screen. The S1E is not itself a Zigbee hub.
Wiring and installation — what to plan for
This is a mains-wired switch, not a plug-in or battery device, so it needs proper installation. It requires a neutral wire and is fitted by a certified electrician: there are five terminals on the back — live (L), neutral (N) and three lamp-load wires (L1, L2, L3). Many Singapore switch points do not have a neutral wire by default, so we recommend having your wiring checked first.
